Headphone reference
Hi there.
today my third Sony MDR-V700DJ within 2 Years is broken.. same part (pic below).
Any suggestions for a high quality pro DJ headphone except the Sony one?

Ultrasone DJ1Pro’s, they are great. Solid and still fairly light. Great sound.
AKG K181 DJ, just got them last week and love them.
Sennheiser HD 25 had them for 5 years, best Dj headphones I have owned !

Seinheiser’s are the shit but i don’t wanna pay $500 more than my playing gear for something i use for 30 seconds every 10 minutes

500$??? Is that NZ dollars? They cost around 220 US dollars
I’ve seen a few models that are $1200 NZD no kidding. A good pair of sony’s or technics will sting us at least 3-500 also. I just use some behringer’s atm they get an absolute thrashing haha.
Magtraxx did you drop them? I know a few guys that use the sony’s they are happy wit them…
I have been using the Dr Dre Beats by Monster.
They’re really great for Djing. They basically block out all sounds. The bass is not muddy but clear & punchy. & the mute button, which I thought was a gadget, is actually quite useful. Also, the case, which I originally didn’t think of using is great when your investment has to be stuffed in an already tight gig bag.
The only down side is that they use batteries & the price!
Do they have a sound cancellation chip in them? Is that why they have batteries?
After having problems with mine breaking as well i did a lot of research and finally bought the technics rp-dj1200 because a ton of reviews from various websites say they are the only ones people have owned that dont break. So far so good but only had em a month.

No. The plastic part is broken. same the last times. My DJ colleague has the same problem with the same modell. Normal use, around 6 hours every day.
The sound of the Sony is great, but need something more robust.
I think about the Sennheiser MD25 and give it a try.
I had the same problem with my Stanton DJ-3000’s, or whatever they are called. The little ball joint just kept breaking, god damnit.
But my senny’s have been wonderful. They just don’t look like the stereotypical DJ headphones. But, then again, I’m much more of a utility guy then an appearance guy.
The Pioneer HDJ1000’s do exactly the same but can be fixed.
Mine went on both sides but i glued them backtogether with araldite and they are more solid now. Its so solid when the first side broke i glued them backtogether and the other side then went. Thats how strong the glue is!
One side i did looks kinda messy but the second time i did it it was with a newer clearer verion of teh glue and you cant hardly tell its there.
Seriousley why shell out when you can fix em.

Yeap, +1… the system is a bit different, and imo more robust…
It’s the only one I had that is not broken after some months using it… 
But the Seinheiser is great too is just +100$ than the Technics…
I have had the senheizer hd25’s for years now great headphones +1 the only problem is the cable had gone all tangled & sometime’s they try to strangle me!
The cables can be replaced as with all senheizer products, but I dont have the patience to wait for a package from germany so I borrowed some beyerdynamic DT770’s from m8 & I have to say they are pretty awsome! really sturdy & comfortable & the sound is great too, the only drawback being they quite expensive around £130/$200/$330NZ ouch glad i didnt have to pay for em
