How to switch off touch/let go vinyl effect in Traktor?

How to switch off touch/let go vinyl effect in Traktor?

Hi.

I’m very annoyed by this effect that gives the effect of starting or stopping when I play with the jog wheels.

I find it very difficult to let go of the track without having that whaaawaaa effect where it slows down and picks up speed again. I want it to behave just like CDJs or the Torq.

Can anyone please tell me how to do this?

I’m referring to the effect in the very beginning of this video.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe by switching off vinyl mode?

If you are referring to the Snap, CD and Vinyl mode, that didn’t help and it is the only place where “vinyl mode” is mentioned in the manual.

If this is not the setting, please be more specific as to what setting you are referring to.

In Traktor, deck scratch messages are 2 part - there is a deck scratch on and a deck scratch. The deck scratch on is a note on/off that tells tratkor to allow scratching, and the deck scratch CC message as well. Both are needed in order to scratch.

Emil, you might want to try playing with the rotary acceleration on the deck scratch message. Lower it and see if that’s more of what you want.

That did not work either. I am trying to get rid of the effect that is specific for Traktor which means when I put my finger on the jog wheel and release it has a speeding up delay to simulate vinyl but it works very bad, constantly giving a uneven pitchbend.

ANyone else wanna take a stab?

Do you want to turn the effect off altogether? If that’s the case then you can remap the jog wheel to do almost anything you want. I don’t scratch, so I use the wheels to control effects.

If you still want to scratch then I think there is a thread on the NI boards about how to optimize the jog wheels, but the scratch effect isn’t perfect yet

Is this not the ramp up problem with firmware 1.1?

I read about the ramp up thing previously but I don’t quite understand how that sounds. My vci 100 was purchased brand new just a few weeks ago though so it should have the new firmware.

If you check the video I posted it is the effect in the beginning Im talking about, where you kind of have to let go of the wheel very exact for it to not go slow, speeded up to normal or fast, speeded down to normal.

I do scratch so I’d love to have it working better. Kind of didn’t think about it that much until I tried Torq, which was flawless with this, but on disgusting plastic

You can confirm which firmware you got by following this thread VCI-100 Firmware version, how to tell? Then have a read of this thread too, might shed some light… For those few of us who scratch and do tricks...

Just letting you know I’m still looking for a way to solve this. Please if you know or think you know, hit me.

[/quote]I don’t think we should be condoning violence!

Buy a firmware update device and upgrade your device - we sell them on this site, actually djtechtools is the only place in the world you can buy the upgrade cables.

You could also try searching on the Native instruments forum!

Have you tried holding both vinyl buttons on your vci to see if the jogs turn off ? if so you have the updated firmware - also the ones with the updated firmware have a v1.2 sticker on the box. Thats 2 sure fire ways to tell, even the 1.2 firmware i hear though still has some what of a whaaaa sound - this is not a problem with the VCI though, i believe it has to do with how Traktor emulates vinyl.

I do have the new firmware and Bentosan, you are right on the money. It is the emulated vinyl effect that I’m trying to get rid of because it serves no purpose for me. Don’t see how it serves any purpose for anyone because anyone who scratches uses a slipmat and one would never have to be THAT exact in releasing the record to give it a clean sound with out the “whaaa”.

I have searched the Native instrument forum as well and became member today, still waiting to be verified so I can post my question there as well.

it sounds to me like you just want to change the purpose of the jog wheel to something else…

Im sorry if it sounds like that, because that is not it. I love the jog wheel and the scratch function. I just don’t think it’s realistic with the wha-aaa sound that comes everytime you let go of the “record”.

Granted, it takes some skills not to release improperly when playing vinyl but with a spinning slipmat under its very easy.

Again, if you are confused as to what it is Im referring to, please take a look at the video where you can hear it, right in the beginning.

Actually this issue is quite well known and there has been members of this forum trying to work on a fix - the problem is very much with Traktor and not the VCI. Aanrii and I have tried ALOT of different approaches to fix this, but they rather creates some sort of other problem or just dont work - its really Traktors responsibility to fix this one, not end users.

I really hope they do address it because I find it absolutely crippling when it comes to scratching and being creative with the wheel when it doesn’t release properly to go in sync with the other track.

I Finally Found The Solution!

It’s been eating at me since I bought my VCI 100 and today I was just randomly browsing through various forums and someone had linked this quote:

“If you look at the midi settings, what midi data is sent in ‘Deck Scratch On’? For the new firmware it should be ‘Note A#3’ for A and ‘Note H-3’ for B.”

:slight_smile::smiley::sunglasses:

Fiiiiiiinally, Now I have a perfect working setup!
