ok, what in the world am i doing wrong with traktor…
i mentioned this before in another thread for another problm, but now this is rediculous.
at first i was using traktor LE and was waiting for my free duo serial activation to get sent to me via NI.
almost everytime i started it it went through the initial setup. and on top of thet no little waveform shows up under the main one.
I got traktor Duo a little while ago and upgraded my LE.
same problem.
i think photojojo mentioned that i may be loading it from a “disc image”. but i am pretty sure i am using the directory it told me to load it from my mac:
no they arent, they arent even in my collection anymore. but they dont need to be analyzed everytime i move them into my colllection because i think it reads the “analyzation” of LE from before
Here is what i am seeing with the waveform problem:
I go through the Explore bit in the left menu and find my folder with my trax. I always load from there and these are the trax with my cues and all and all.
Not sure if you use iTunes (I don’t really) but I know if i take track out of my collection…they don’t have my settings pinned to them.
do the wave forms show up after importing to collection? if they do, i’d recommend importing everything to collection, then on the left side find ‘track collection’, right click and export it. this will create a new .nml file with all the details in. prob be best to untick the ‘copy tracks’ option. you could try saving this over the top of the existing one, however, i assume from the path you mentioned for traktor you’re on a mac? so can’t point you in that direction. in windows it’s the folder for all the settings of the user that runs traktor.
as for the vci map, again i don’t know how a mac arranges the data, but in the user folder on windows there is a native instruments\traktor\settings path. i keep my tsi in there. maybe find the mac equivalent copy the tsi file to there, then import it?
all just thoughts off the top of my head, but something to consider…
stupid question, but have you got itunes installed on the same system as traktor? i found it wouldn’t play aac files on my traktor boot until i installed itunes on there. doesn’t run (even as background process) but they behave now
If you haven’t made too many advancements in your playlist / setup, id suggest:
– completely wipe traktor out. find every folder, file, config file, etc, and remove it. try AppZapper if you want to save some time.
– go through installing traktor again - reload the .dmg, copy the app to the app folder, then unmount the .dmg by right-clicking on the image on your desk and choosing “unmount”
– (optional) if you have it, make sure itunes is squared away (files in one location, consolidated, let itunes own your files - just makes it easier)
– load up traktor, go through your setup, and make sure to focus on:
---- data location: leave root dir as default, point itunes music library (prob. default) to where itunes is managing the music, and set music folder to where your music resides
---- file management: make sure all five options are checked
close the setting screen, quit traktor, then reload. it should attempt to re-import all your music, analyzing what hasn’t been, as well as sync with your itunes.
When I moved from win to mac, it took me about 3-4 times of installing traktor, setting it up, moving my music, until I finally stopped fighting it and let the apps do their thing and handle the locations instead of me trying to control it. At this point, now, it’s a 30-40 second load into traktor to make sure 7k+ songs are analyzed, still in their locations, and ready to rock.
interesting, ill try it out. one possible problem though.
I have the LEinstaller CD, i got my DUO through a serial code upgrade from NI. how would this work? would i install traktor LE again and use the serial upgrade code they gave me cia email to upgrade to DUO again?
PS: if i do this, i have 5 trial zaps with app zapper
im going to tr what he suggested, once NI gets back to me on whether or not my DUO serial upgrade will work again after i completely wipe out all traces of DUO.
yeah, your registration is marked with a user account on their site, so any attempt to reg with a specific key will tie into whatever your user account is. i’m assuming this reconnects once you attempt to “update” via the software and sees that the version you have is legit with the key you are using.
