Online DMC Round 2 midi & TouchOSC

Online DMC Round 2 midi & TouchOSC

:stuck_out_tongue::stuck_out_tongue:

The controller looks interesting gotta say.
I saw the post in the controller section, and your old one when you had your little rant a while back

I think you could have a market for that - it’s going in the right direction cos tablets will replace laptops eventually - good luck with it

But I have to say you’re a better designer than dj - no offence :stuck_out_tongue:!

Thanks, none taken.

You haven’t seen me DJ yet, you’ve seen me being producer, cameraman, soundman, lighting, director and star all at once. This ain’t like those videos where one guy jumps on the decks and that’s all he has to deal with
Try making a production with some music that hasn’t been battled to death, with tricks that haven’t been the same since 98, and film all of it by yourself, oh and make it come in exactly at two minutes…you may decide I’m a lot better than you initially thought

Here’s another rant, the day will come when 90% of the stuff in the DMC lately will be shown for the boring repetitive shite that it is, but my work, and even this post will be DJ history.

And if anyone out there is watching this video and thinking it is simple, thank you. That means I’ve done a good job and made it look that way. Thanks for watching and reading.

Nothing about your post will come remotely close to DJ history.

I like the equipment. Looks pretty interesting and clean.

Why not?
Care to enlighten me?
You ever hear that old saying ā€œpost a file Ā£!„€#ā€

I like a good debate as much as the next guy, but I at least want to know who I’m dealing with.

So post your links, I’ll see if you have an ā€œopinionā€ or only an ā€œassumptionā€ and theN we’ll discuss what constitutes DJ history

Thank you

hey man, marketing tip, I advise not calling the DMC’s shit on a DJ forum. And saying what you’re doing will be DJ history is your opinion, let things like that become fact before you brag about them. But I do really dig your controller, its kinda like

Props on your controller man

i didn“t really like the routine but hell you built yourself a nice controller man. cool concept!

you arrogance is outstanding man, makes me laugh everytime… sorry to be a jerk lol

on a more serious note am I the only one who doesn’t understand the revolutionary crossfader on top deal… it defies logical design concepts for two basic reasons… You have your hand over the screen when using it, which presumably you are watching the track feedback with so you are in essence blind, this isn’t an issue for anyone with experience, but noobs will be detered from using it which would be the target market.

The other more important reason is you could touch the screen accidently causing the music to jump or worse stop, this is completely avoidable with traditional layout of the crossfader… And why not think about what the most important element is in a dj setup, and don’t say jogwheels… look at what the idjpro is missing for a hint… For this part of the setup touch is no substitute for the control you get from something you can grab a hold of.

Now back to the arrogance… everyone will think your a douchebag if your the only one saying that your great, let other people come to their own conclusion before you ramm how awesome you are in their face. And people would be a lot more receptive and constructive if you showed some restraint. You should also look at these forums as what they truly are ā€œthe best market research tool you can haveā€ā€¦ most industries would kill for this kind of access to their target markets opinion. but instead your concept threads are about your personality not your design… seems counter productive to me. :expressionless:

Not even a good entertaining troll. Fail.

I Watched this a few times before deciding to shoot my mouth off.

  • Its not that hard to set up a camera and hit record.
  • Its not that hard to edit out the beginning and ending of a video so we don’t see you getting in behind the decks
  • The lighting is unspectacular
  • Hitting the record button and doing multiple takes in traktor/vdj etc is not a big deal ?
  • A big clock takes care of the exactly 2 minutes lark.
  • You can sync the video and audio easily using a clap to sync the frames in iMovie/microsoft movie maker or software of your choice afterwards.
  • You have contained successfully an iPad running touch OSC or Lemur and 2 midi controllers in a white box… congratulations, I don’t see anything amazing about it ?, when you are running the entire rig solely on the iPad I’ll start being impressed.

Make a video of you ā€œactuallyā€ DJ’ing then for 10 or 20 mins doing something spectacular and I’ll re-judge but I would not be using your ā€œskillsā€ as lighting/camera/director/soundman to offset a shoddy performance - just set up a camera hit record and play and show us your mad skillz.

Maybe its just me but I just feel you have a chip on your shoulder for whatever reason about others ( both hardware manufacturers and DJ’s) who are the music business, and have been for many years.

You have overconfidence without substance …

IMHO of course.

I liked the juggling didn’t think that was possible without turntables  and your right about the dmc id say since 2002 tho when it started same sounds same routine…and became just .

thank you.
I’ve been in every round of the Online DMC so far. the only person who got more views than me was unkut, but in total my vids last year got more views than anyone else, so I’m in some position to give my opinion of the current state of the contest.
while I’m doing that, I will remind us all that if there wasn’t a problem of the productions becoming too similar (and some other problems) then the DMC wouldn’t have began the Online Contest in the first place.

ok

yea, because since this idiot don’t know me, I’m a troll.

kids are d a f these days

without substance, why because you don’t know who I am. haha

[/quote]yep, everything looks easy when someone else is doing it. so really? that’s your theory, what I’VE bulit is simple, what I’VE performed is simple,
and you think I’m delusional..hahahahahahaha

exactly!
thank you for being honest, we need more DJs like you!

Oh my god this guy again.

Play it nice people or this thread is getting closed

It’s not what you use but how you use it.
No need to be so full of yourself, this forum doesn’t need attitudes like this.

The BCF is a great controller

Just wanted to pop in and say thank you to everyone for listening and watching.
I’ve been thinking about the stuff that has been said here.
I’m going to hold on to my belief that I have created DJ history. The main reason I feel strongly about this is that we are here on a site, where a guy got known for changing out some buttons on a controller. What Ean did is definitely DJ history, and I think my creation of a platform agnostic controller, which speaks to the current need of integrating a tablet is equally historic.
I’d also like to address the claims of ā€œboastingā€
I would that you all keep in mind, that from my point of view, having been the person creating sketches of controllers, clearly defining them during phone calls or forum posts, and continually being told I was ā€œwrongā€ or ā€œsillyā€(not unlike several of you have done here) and then seeing MY ideas come to life in physical form, I’m not bragging, I’m standing up for my rights. I’m also standing up for the rights of anyone who enters an arrangement in good faith only to be exploited–see ā€œbeta-testingā€-- because if you actually do any work during the testing, you’re more likely to get a ā€œyou’re welcomeā€ than a ā€œthank-youā€
I love all this stuff passionately, and I put every ounce of that passion into created new ways of performing and now, new tools with which to perform. If anyone thinks the speaking the truth about what I’ve done and seen, and the role I’ve played with creating financially successful products is boasting, so be it. Imagine if your boss told you, ā€œso what you worked 20 hours of overtime this week, STOP Bragging about it, cause I ain’t paying youā€ This is my story, it’s MY story, and I’m going to tell it.
Finally I’ll address, the ā€œsee me perform as a DJ via a videoā€ issue. I have zero interest in making video content with music that I do not own, but I put together a mix of ā€œelectro-swingā€ for ya
If the mixing style is overly simple or by any accounts bad, well the truth is I don’t want it to be good enough for someone else to play as their, so I do those things on purpose. But I also hold very distinct views, from experience about how many people actually just want us to ā€œlet the song playā€ and so I always work a bit of that into my style.
