Personally im happy to see pioneer in the game. having played with both at namm, I can say they are both very high quality pieces of kit.
But more than anything else, this adds SO much legitimacy to controllerists. I have heard in the last couple of years, from turntablists that “if it wasnt a toy, then pioneer would be doing it”.
well now they are. I hope people buy those things so they stay in the game. One thing I can say for sure, that things built 10000x tougher than an S4. I’d be scared out of my mind to play out on an s4 without a flight case. the T1, not so much.
Happy to hear that Pioneer finally remove their heard from their ass. So welcome aboard and good luck with that, but I’ll never throw away 1,500$ on a tupperware thingy who’s looking like MixMeister, no way
I hate they classify it for “home and General DJ use” , this only mean they don’t even trust it themself
rant over… feel better now.

yes OR no. Seems they just want to make like everyone because they’re loosing too much of the future market… while they create something when they released their CDJ100 over 12 years ago.
tbh while i’m not feeling the controllers, and it pisses me off that now pioneer are in the game it’s considered legit.
at least it will convert some people. but hopefully they’ll realise there are better options for the money when they start looking. cos the bundled traktor version sucks…
pssl has them listed already at $1,099.99 which is only slightly more than an s4.
having played with both the T1 and the S1 in person, I can tell you with 100% certainty that the build quality of these Pioneer units is something NI could only dream about if the S4 is their best work. These things are solid, faders are like butter, the platters are cdj style and built to take a beating for years.
with the right haggling at any place that sells them, i imagine youd walk out the door for under a grand.
I’m actually very seriously considering getting an S1 for myself.
i reckon the build quality on the new pioneer controllers is perfect
but that would never change my mind or love i have for my s4 !
thank you NI you did it again !
Thats been on my wish list for years, Numark have come the closest to my Ideal midi turntable with the V7 why cant they just ditch the CD mechanism from a 1000 and fill it up with midi goodness and reduce the height to about an inch (and lighten it!)…
8 endless encoders, 8 knobs 20 Buttons / 2 Nice long pitch faders and full size jogs per deck (soundcard would be a nice option!) & bouncy checkbook will be ready and waiting for the company who does. Unfortunatly I guess so will I.
The Reloop RMP looks closest match at a bloody good price.
Mate I don’t like the S4 it looks childish! Not dissin the functionality at all, it’s obviously a top bit of kit, it just looks toyish. The T1 however looks a beast! I am seriously considering getting one. Iv just sold my audio 8 and midi fighter so unless I really like the new NI sound cards ill probes get the T1.
i went into a local sam ash about 2 months ago to try out an s4, but they were out. started talkin with a sales guy, and i mentioned the (back then) buzz about pioneer coming out with a similar type of device.
i wish i had his bullshit on record, said there was no way, no how pioneer would produce anything like the s4, that they would be shooting themselves in the foot.
if you like traktor, i dont see why you wouldnt go with the controller built specifically for the software. pioneers build quality is surely tested and proven, but i havent heard of anyone who owns an s4 speaking poorly about how it feels, not how it looks.
