The Vestax Spin DJ Controller!

Hi everyone!

So, this awesomeness midicontroller has landed to the earth, and some of you already know the name of it, Vestax Spin DJ Controller!

Anyways, I got some questions!

Some people on DJTT already got it, I saw some comments on the “news” thingy about the controller, and I was wondering, can someone make a review? Video reviews? Some samples?

And I got this question about the controller in general!

I’m heading to the states in about 38 days, i’m going to stay there for.. 5 weeks! And, already the Spin Controller has been sold out in apple store (shipping in 2-3 weeks)! AND the bad thingy is that - when i’m getting there, the christmas weekend has started and i’m guessing that it’s going to be sold out kind of quick :disappointed:

ANYWHO, what do you think about the problem i’ll got there? Can I order it when im in the states, and be KNOWING that 2-3 weeks it’s on my cousins doorstep? because, sometimes (so i heard) apple can ship stuff after, like.. 4-5 weeks when it says 2-3 weeks :disappointed:

I’ll hope this thread can be like a “official” Vestax Spin DJ Controller!

I just bought it

I just bought the Vestax Spin since my controller got stolen from me last week. I’m writing a controller mapping for Traktor Pro right now!

For the price, it’s wonderful. I wish I could make a case out of steel.

would those Spin Jog wheels fit on a VCI-300? They look sharp!

I successfully mapped the Vestax to Traktor! It’s a little buggy but I’m going to try it out at my gig tonight.

A mini-review of the Vestax Spin.

Got me thinking, isent it a usb powered controller? Do I need to have a adapter? He said something about there was a plug for the adapter.. Hmm

On Monday/Tusday there will be a more fully-review of him working it.

Alot of midi controllers has both adapter plug and usb for power :slight_smile:

I had some issues with the controller. Once in a while, the controller wouldn’t send MIDI signals to my computer. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t how my mapping was programmed. I think it might be that the USB cable was a little loose. I’m still experimenting with it.

Anyway, the controller would still receive data for the master and monitor outs, even though the midi didn’t work. It kind of sucked, I had to control the computer with my mouse during the peak of my set. At least it worked with Traktor!

I’ll have to test whether or not it’s a software or hardware problem.

I got the spin last week and had no problem mapping it to traktor pro, except for some of the led indicators, and the main problem is I can’t get the cue functions to behave properly.

Judging by the vids, this controller actually looks nicer than I could have imagined.

Someone needs to buy a load and sell 'em in the UK. I’ve got the cash waiting but it’s only available at Apple US stores right?
