It’s pretty clear that Traktor 3.0 or maybe even before that will get full Maschine integration. To speculate more, some other things I think will be there and will put Ableton into a tight spot as Ableton is so busy working on their mediocre DAW and forgot it was a live instrument:
grid mark support for handling variated music tracks
More integration to swap in and out clip sets very easily
Display the clip sets outside the F1, support non-F1 controllers for clip triggering
(I hope) a second plug-in process where to host VSTs for Traktor integration
Some basic Soundflower-like support to route internal hosted audio sources in and out from Traktor
Smart playlists (iTunes like)
Learn button to quickly MIDI-assign any controller’s any control to any feature visible.
and some other stuff I can’t think of within a minute.
In my opinion, fixing the save bugs that 2.6.0 has means heaven to me. Having such big problems right now.
Also,
-When Maschine gets integrated it should be a deck flavor option that looks like a small Maschine player,
no additional software needed.
-For those speculating: There’s been a NI tradition of releasing a 0.1 version 2 months after the 0.0 version.
So maybe before X-mas?
Maschine will be integrated with the Traktor interface somehow and will require Traktor 3
NI T1 (Traktor Deck controller) will rival the CDJ2000 will require Traktor 3
They need more products aimed at the EDM (hate that word) DJ, a huge markets just opened up in America again.
If they can nail a performance Scratch enabled jog wheel controller, they’ll sell like hoecakes, make them Serato enabled again.
Warp markers etc offline time stretch have already come to Maschine
Plugins support
More than 4 decks? Not sure if they’ll go this way or just keep Traktor in DJ mode, but they could easily make Traktor more Ableton like but without the DAW function (more DJ/Live performance)
Traktor basically becomes NI mixer section for Maschine, clip based sample packs, sell more remix decks
^ It would be awesome if they had a CDJ style controller that could connect with your laptop over wifi or USB that showed track decks as the display and could switch to decks 3 & 4 on each controller. I still like the idea of having an external mixer and controllers separate. Another idea would be a cdj style controller with Traktor software built in so all you needed was a usb. I know it sounds like Rekord box but a Traktor version with 2 decks on each would be so good.
I agree with stewe, more modifiers would be nice.
I don’t like the idea of opening a scripting language - Traktor is buggy enough without needing any help there.
I actually want them to stop adding things now - 2.6 has evreything you need - just make it rock-solid-crash-free.
Stability wise, touching wood, I have NEVER had Traktor crash on me after two years of use. I’ve never seen Serato fail either, but I’ve seen VDJ pack in more times than I can remember, on varying systems with varying users. Such a badly coded program (No malice intended towards the VDJ development team, it’s just mine and others’ experience with the program over the years)
Today I realised what I wanted in the controller editor, a folder system so you can organise and group your mappings, and re arrange them how you see fit, because it gets a bit bananas when you map out your entire controller with two shift functions and instant FX. It would also be cool if you could save the groupings, as like a sort of module, then you could just save that bit and send it to someone for them to load up, instead of having to overwrite the entirety of their own mapping just for yours.
