Z2 live input. Traktor FX on real vinyl

Z2 live input. Traktor FX on real vinyl

So, if I were to get a Z2 (hypothets) can i use traktor’s fx on real vinyl via live input or whatevs?

Thanks

yup

Much latency?

Anyone done it? photojojo?

Works great… shortcut to set decks to live inputs is Shift + Traktor Button on the Z2.

Do you know if their is a keyboard shortcut?
I mean, obviously the mixer shortcut is ideal, but I was just wondering.

nope but you can easily map this to a keyboard shortcut by selecting deck flavor selector for deck a or b in the mapping area.

i actually have this option mapped out to my sync button as i don’t use it

works fine still have to run it through laptop and traktor. I’ve never tried it in stand alone mixer mode though

you can do this without a Z2 so no reason you shouldn’t be able to do it with one. My only problem is the massive volume difference between real vinyl and the computer; be prepared to compensate for that (unless the Z2 has fixed that bug).

Which one is quieter? I mean, it’s no different than mixing Real Vinyl & an MP3
(where you have to gain down the Real Vinyl or gain up the MP3) is it?

If one or the other is “extremely” quieter/louder than the other, I doubt I’ll
be using that option very much.

Vinyl comes in a lot hotter than MP3’s.

How do you do this without a z2? I have a DJM 909 and an audio 6.

Thanks

Okay, well that’s true w’ all DVS’.
That’s not a problem at all…already used to that.

Change your virtual deck(s) to live input instead of timecode.

Hotter means quieter?? When I run regular vinyl through the “live input” I have to crank the gain in order to be consistent with the mp3 volumes. Am I doing something wrong? I always assumed hotter meant louder…

Sorry I thought you meant you can use traktor effects on real vinyl

^ you can ^

that’s the whole point of this thread.

You can - if you have real vinyl playing through live input, you can apply traktor effects to it.

Does the same behavior transpire when using WAVs or FLACs?

What I am trying to get at is whether Live Input is something that
“dramatically” heats the signal, or if this is just normal behavior of
all DVS’ when you try to mix a Lossy 320 w’ an obviously Lossless
Vinyl record.

Thanks for any help in clarifying this for me
