Deep House BPM
I have recently got into mixing some deep house. However I find the tempo too slow for my liking. However when I increase the BPM to around 130 I think it flows fantastically.
What is your point of view on this?

Blasphemy, but there is nothing I can do to stop you
.
Agreed, Deep house usually flows well between 118 to 124bpm. After that you start to loose the grooves and swing in the tracks
Just stick with Tech house if you’re feeling stuff at 130bpm
= p
I wouldn’t really enjoy it, but hell… do you thing. Maybe your tempo preference will lead you to step into a golden pile of shit ala Dave Nada.
Slower the better
The slower tempo is part of what makes it deep house to me and I can’t really imagine trying to get the same vibe with a chill track sped up… but whatever works for you.
I actually do the exact opposite, sloooow baby slooow…
whatever grooves your willy
Deep house is all about finding the grooves between the beat. The more space or noise between each beat, the fuller the sound.
Here’s some low BPM deep-house that somewhat explains what I tried to say:
Move D - Computer Flop ft. DJ La (106 BPM)
Ron Deacon - Secret Garden (120 BPM)
Can’t imagine hearing either at 130…
It’s a mood that can’t be swung at 128 bpm…laid back…smoked out…chilled…
Let that be your guide…
Thanks for your input, i don’t think I have really given it a chance, I will mix a set tonight at the correct BPM to give it a chance.
BTW - only some Electro house tickles my fancy… Hence me investigating deep house!
I think there’s some progressive house out there for you. Nice soothing vocals, but much higher BPM than deep house and usually not as high energy as Electro.
when mixing Deep i do it between 120-128 max, generally hit the higher end when I do a mix which has tech also included so generally i bring the bpm’s up a bit
but that’s just me, in all honesty it’s how you hear and feel the beats, do it your way if you want try it faster and slower, listen to both mixes and then decide what you reckon is the better of the two…
