New Allen & Heath xone thingy

Couldnt agree more!

oh man i havent use my 4d for months after getting the s4. i seriously am pampered with the one to one controls over traktor by using the s4. im stucked on how i wanna get my 4d remapped to suit my workflow after using the s4

The little round buttons you hardly knew you pressed them they weren’t clicky enough and felt dead. Then the worst was the bottom row of 4 buttons with the light circles that were way too mushy and had no click to them to let you know they were actually pressed, which is a big reason I sold my 4D after I got my hands on X1s. Those buttons are fine on their mixers to engage filters, but not as your main command buttons.

after trying the db4 im seriously hooked to the mixer it’s a beast…thinking of trading in the 4d with the db4 it’s just a thought. just two months after i bought the 4d the db4 came out dammit.

And I’m a bit scared that I do.

im very tempted very much

and i was just about to pull the trigger on a 1d…

And you won’t regret it. I had a Xone 1D, it was pretty good, had to trade it in because of some bugs and got two X1s instead.
The buttons and led feedback on (nearly) everything on NI’s kit puts it on a class of its own when you want triggers, IMHO, although the 1D still has the build quality and knobs going for it.

This second video looks like A&H’s taken the hint, but we can’t really see the buttons that much. For all we know they could still be those long travel spring-loaded mechanisms for which they only changed the caps on the DB4 :stuck_out_tongue: (which would be suicidal)

Me too, they’re dirt cheap nowadays. But I’m waiting for all the announcements coming weekend before deciding how I can satisfy my RGAS. They still seem to be the bees knees for controlling sample decks though.

Also my macbook is coming and I will start to play out finally

Man, I’m so fucking anxious that I could eat two rounds of Feijoada today (Wenesday generally is the Feijoada day in the restaurants here at São Paulo)

Back on topic… Any news on the xone thingy? :stuck_out_tongue:

there will be some big news for existing and new DB4 users to loose sleep over about the next firmware update

Ahhhh tell us!

The only thing big, i can think of is traktor scratch certified…

scratch certification is in the domain of native instruments alone unfortunately; you’ll have to talk to them about it.

Does anyone remember when there was a long period (at least several months) where the 4D wasn’t certified but was fully functional as a scratch mixer with timecode? What was the deal with that?

Curious about the DB4 firmware upgrade. Any info on when we will here more, mix?

My guess would be in about 3 days.

I hate waiting, haha!
