I would only disagree to the extent that I don’t believe anything needs to be addressed as far as the legality of tobacco or alcohol goes. Tobacco and alcohol are both unhealthy for you-however, I don’t think that means they have to be illegal. The illegality of drugs in general, IMHO, should be limited to the actual, tangible effects to others around you. In other words, I think its fine to legislate against driving while intoxicated, but not simple possession.
Where do you do your banking?
Not quite the correct caricature of how the laws came into effect. Study the history of the American progressive (marxist) movement and you will find the answer. Also responsible for the 18th amendment this lot. This is legal action endorsed, drawn up and enacted by the people who our media now typically described as educated liberals. The whole movement came to a head at the end of F.D.R.'s reign and two-term limits quickly became law. The increased size and scope of the Fed has not been met with similar attributes until Bush and Obama. Read about Woodrow Wilson and many of his cohorts who defined the Progressive movement of the early 20th century in the US. Harrison Act anyone? The sad thing is nothing has changed other than the popular view of the progressives as being innocuous, educated, forward-thinking liberals–which is very dangerous and untrue. Our liberal elites in this country have support from Hollowood and the vast majority of the yes-man press corps with an agenda.
I agree, but those remain legal because they now have a very large, and very well funded lobby.
Also, if we look back at prohibition, we see that making something that is legal into something that is illegal is much more difficult than just keeping something illegal.
Socially, as long as something remains illegal then there is a certain non-acceptance of it in true main stream culture. If something is made illegal though it already has a foot hold in main stream culture and is much more difficult to manage.
Again, I’m for the legalization of marijuana. Legalize it, regulate it, tax it, and stop fighting a war on drugs that we can’t win. I just don’t see how it’s going to happen without some huge legal acrobatics.
Legalizing pot will not have a huge effect on the “war on drugs”. Cocaine, meth, MDMA…moonshine wtv in the black/grey markets will be active as long as there is a market fueled by competition. That is business and sometimes business is just plain ugly. Tax pot too much and you have effectively encouraged black market to push a product w/o the tax burden, i.e. higher cost to the consumer.
My personal view on the “war” is it is a cultural one realized mostly in far away places and cannot be won through attrition. You think iphone users give a shit whether or not their toy was made by slaves in China? Much less the stoner (or casual user) who whose quarter ounce bag has a considerable toll on human life through corruption and murder. The end user does not take these things into consideration and likely never will. We should be able to grow our own and cut out the sloppy middleman. I wish i knew the real ratio of pot smokers to other “hard” drugs. Anyone know this?
Anything that alters the human’s state of mind should be monitored by the correct mediums and used for the right purpose. As someone entering the medical field and medical specialist on both sides of my family it’s a pain when we see everyone rooting for open use of marijuana. Marijuana has amazing medical use, but social use, meaningless medical use, illegal use, and overall widespread use ruins the chances of it being taken as a serious treatment for patients in need.
Roll on “J Day”
They should legalize DMT, Now thats a drug the goverment/church would be scared of having legal. Makes legalizing pot seem like being fined for farting in public
Well considering DMT is a naturally occuring neurotransmitter in the brain they better lock us all up then huh. ![]()
yeah… funny thing is… our existence as we know it.. is locked up..until we either die or take DMT for that brief moment… sorry to get offtopic… I think the whole issue of legalizing is tied up in having open borders between states and one state being able to do it and not another. Some places in the south… have counties where they dont sell beer or wine on a sunday… but 1 mile across the state line you can buy all the booze you want.
If people in cali can suddenly purchase legal buds and not be an aids patient… I think other people will demand it… mail order… scented pillows like they used to have in germany. you buy a pillow full of weed because it smells good… the person buying the pillow then has the option of ripping it open and smoking the inside.. but technically they are selling you a pillow…
Everyone should meet the “Hyperdimensional Self Transforming Machine-Elves” as described by a certain well known Shamanoethnobotanist

^^ Interesting indeed.
i have experienced the most exquisite and elaborate matrices, or maybe they were labyrinths. But that was an entirely different concoction. XD
I agree 100% at first I was skeptical back in the early 90s always hearing about it.. then I read some books on it… I still thought the descriptions were total hype till I became a mouse being sucked through an elephants reverse fart at the speed of tissue in a vaccume cleaner… then in the middle of a roman colleseum colored blue with popscicle stick fans cheering me on. then I opened my eyes and all was normal again
Are you sure?
Mate, it was made illegal WAY before Bush and Obama!
Watch Bowling for Colombine…and see how they gave you a gun when you registered with a bank.
Specific banks tho!
+1000!
I knew exactly what you were talking about when you made that point. Banks used to, not so much anymore, run promotions like that here in the northern part of the midwest because lots of people love to hunt.
jees, did you even read my post? The point was prohibition had nothing to do with cotton farmers and slaves but early Progressives in America who believe they know what’s best for everyone.
