i did a quick search and haven’t really seen a legit free music thread on here so i figured i would start one. i don’t have a lot of excess cash so i love it when artists and labels give out stuff for free, it makes me dig them even more.
please post free tracks in here, but make sure they are being given away by the artists or labels themselves. please try to list the genre as well. found any good soundcloud artists or labels you want to share? let us know.
i know some of you are going to say this is no fun and the digging is the greatest part…i agree to some extent and i will still dig but i don’t have enough time in the day to do everything i want with music and a full time job so i love a little guidance every now and then.
well let me kick this off with one most of you guys probably already know about, but in case you don’t here’s pretty lights music:
i’m gonna just keep this rolling and hopefully someone finds some good tunes and new artists through my relentless digging through the internets to find gems.
here’s a record label that has a bunch of free releases but you will have to do a little work on this one…it’s worth it though since there are some diamonds to be found. it took me an hour or so to snag about 200+ tracks from this label
just click on each artist at the left of the site, then scroll to the bottom of the page click on each of their albums (make sure show all albums is on) and it will tell you which ones are free. add to your cart, create an account and download away. all the tracks here are high quality 320s.
shem will treat you right if you like some harder and darker sounds. he is also very good about responding and communicating with his fans on his facebook page.
all of his work on his bandcamp page (with the exception of only human) are name your price, so you can put 0 in and grab them for free. if you like his stuff don’t hesitate to donate a little money to the cause because he deserves it.
so far it’s been a lot of glitchy type sounds but i’m hoping more people will add different styles. it just seems easier for me to find that kind of stuff or maybe those types of artists are more prone to giving out free tracks. well, here’s some sounds that are a bit more swinging:
i totally forgot about xlr8r! i used to subscribe to the magazine years ago when they first started giving free cds with each months issue. i always liked them because they were eclectic. thanks!
you just put two of my favorite words together: tech and house. i’ve been loving those types of sounds lately so i’m sure i’ll find some good ones here. thanks for sharing!

it does seem like they are having issues with their site though since most releases won’t load any info or allow a download. i have an email in so i’ll see what they say. i was able to grab about 10 releases, so that’s cool. thanks much!
this is probably not something i would personally spin anymore but maybe some of you djtters will like it and be able to fit it into your sets. anyhow it’s free, so check it out.
